Learning to design, manufacture and sell a medical device is hard. Having done it once, I’m writing down my thoughts on how to do it better the next time.

A Bittersweet Goodbye

I’ve decided to shutter my freelance consulting on SBIR grants because of the ongoing problems with the NIH. New awards are down, there are delays in getting cash to funded projects, and SBIR funding rates are at historical lows.

I wish things were different, since I think the NIH’s mission was historically unique and important, but since I can’t change the facts and am at the mercy of events, I’m leaving the freelance world and looking for employment.

My email, theatalenti@gmail.com will continue to reach me, and if you have any opportunities, I would definitely appreciate the reach-out.

For now, all who are innovating the medical device space, good luck and may the funding gods shine on you! (and if you ever have questions, I’m happy to answer if I can).

Hooray!! SBIRs and STTRs are BAAACK!
